Dear Parents,
Parent-teacher conferences are today and tomorrow! I look forward to seeing those of you who can make it. I am available by email if anything comes up or if you need further assistance. Thank you, Miss Bechard Parent Information Night
Seventh and Eighth Grade Language Arts: Seventh and eighth grade Language Arts is an intense study of literature and language. Students will be reading a variety of leveled text pieces and novels, writing in-depth responses to classic and current literature, participating in numerous writing workshops to compose informative, persuasive, argumentative, and narrative essays, and acquiring correct spelling, vocabulary, and grammar skills necessary to communicate effectively. Various forms of technology will also be integrated throughout the school year. Online help: Language Arts textbook website https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com
Webpage: www.scspk12.org/ic Click on class pages and Ms. Bechard to view my webpage. You can view daily homework assignments from this site. Don’t forget that you can also check your child’s current grades. Grades will be updated at least once a week. Homework and Assignments: The grade will be comprised of homework, projects, participation, written papers, quizzes and test scores. Homework assignments will be given for each lesson and students will be assessed at the end of each unit. Study guides will be provided before each test. Study guides and rubrics will be posted on my webpage. Students will receive a copy of each in class, but this allows them to print one at home if they lose their copy. Absences: If a student is absent, he or she has one extra day to complete the assignment. It is the student’s responsibility to find out the assignment and make up the homework missed. Homework assignments will be posted daily on my webpage. Students should return to class prepared and informed of assignments they missed. Field Trips and Guest Speakers: I am always looking for new field trips and guest speakers that relate to our curriculum. If you have any ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me. Conference Times: I will be glad to schedule a conference with you at your request. Please note that I will contact you concerning your child if necessary. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns. You may also call the school office (881-7000) to schedule an appointment. Thank you for attending parent information night. I feel that communication between parents, teachers, and students is very important. I appreciate your support. I am looking forward to an exciting year at Immaculate Conception. Blessings, Miss Heidi Bechard Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the Eighth Grade! I am very excited to begin my first year at Immaculate Conception. I have worked in Springfield Public Schools for the last few years, but as a former student of the Springfield Catholic School system, I am eager to return! I have my Associate of Arts in Teaching from Ozarks Technical Community College. I have my Bachelor of Science in Education, English from Missouri State University, and I will be finishing up my Master of Science in Education, English this fall at Missouri State University. I am looking forward to school starting, and getting to meet all of you at our Open House on Tuesday afternoon, August 16th, from 2:00-4:00. You may bring school supplies at this time or on the first day. There will be a Junior High Parent Information Night on Tuesday, August 23rd beginning at 6:30pm in the school gym. Parents will spend a short time in each of the junior high classrooms, and will receive and overview of the curriculum and expectations for the school year. The uniform policy will be strictly enforced, and only uniform company apparel is acceptable, so please come to school with proper attire. Eighth graders will participate in service patrol duty for our morning carline. Your child will be scheduled for about three weeks. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have. I am sure that working together we will have a happy and rewarding year! Sincerely, Ms. Heidi Bechard |
